Patti Brigham, president of the League of Women Voters of Florida isn't shy about taking on a challenge. Last fall, she and her team worked tirelessly to help restore the voting rights to citizens who have paid their debt to society.
From the Washington Post: Last November, Floridians overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment that restored voting rights to most felons once they completed their sentences, making it the largest expansion of voting rights in the country in 50 years. Thousands of felons registered after the amendment took effect on Jan. 8.
The change in policy encourages Floridians who previously had trouble with the law to rebuild their life as a citizen and have a voice how our state is managed.
